If you're from Calgary, you've heard of or been to the annual 4th Street Lilac Festival. If you haven't, here's the scene: 1 day, hundreds of artisan vendors, thousands of attendees, and a ridiculous amount of good vibes. It's how Calgary kicks off festival season and welcomes the long-awaited summer.
This year I was fortunate enough to be a vendor! It was the second market I have ever done (my first was an intimate market at my local yoga studio) so going into it with little market experience was intimidating. I took it on as a fun personal challenge, and I am SO glad I did. It was the hottest and happiest day of the year so far! I got to interact with so many different people and share my passion with them. Seeing people's faces light up when they tried on Goddess Crowns made me overflow with joy, remembering how I felt the first time I tried one on. That feeling is what eventually led me to creating my own. It's been such a journey already, and knowing it's still the beginning is exciting!
I've learned that doing something that scares me is always a good idea. It's never, ever a failure because at the very least I can take a lesson from it and tell myself "You're awesome because you did it." Having a unique experience is always work the risk. And almost always, my expectations are completely blown out of the water, like they were at Lilac Festival!
Thank you, everyone who came out to Lilac. Your enthusiasm, praise and interest in my craft has been a huge help and motivator for me to continue to push myself creatively. I can't wait to see everybody's epic festival attire in bull bloom this summer season!
