I think that understanding and accepting this can play SUCH a positive role in all of our lives! It's easy to look at someone else's creative flow and start comparing yourself to them. When someone is already amazing at something we're trying to be amazing at, we can perceive it as discouraging. I've definitely had times where seeing another person's creativity actually made me feel bad about myself because they seemed more developed in their process, seemingly 'better' than me at it. Those types of thought patterns are 100% ego and are very destructive to our growth as artists and as humans.
You can watch others thriving in creative abundance and let it make you feel inferior, OR you can see where they're at in their path and feel in awe, inspired by their willingness to explore that side of themselves! I look at those around me who are successful at making jewelry, or playing the guitar, or singing - the creative avenues that I love - and I now think, what can I learn from this person? How beautiful it is that they are expressing their authentic selves and boldly sharing it with us. Creativity is not a competition because nobody can ever create exactly what YOU have to offer this world. Our creativity is our way of bringing into physical existence the infinite dimension of love and beauty that dwells inside us. It's our duty to share it, bravely and honestly, free of shame and self-judgement as we learn and grow. We tend to be our own biggest critics - try to be less hard on yourself.
Instead, actively nurture your inner artist. Allow yourself to be energized and motivated by others on their unique path! There will ALWAYS be room on Earth for more expression, more art! The world is craving it!
What is your gift? Can you do something today to nourish that gift and help it be realized more fully?
